Social Change will be joining Dialect, Citywide, Crossbred Mongrels and Reason for the Levelheaded “Spice of Life” Tour.

Fresh off the release of his debut solo album ‘The Spice of Life’, Levelheaded is set to ignite crowds in the latter part of 09 across three states. Kicking off in his hometown of Adelaide on October 9th with After Hours and Ill Equipt, the tour will see Levelheaded travel to Melbourne, Geelong and Hobart with some of Adelaide’s finest in Crossbred Mongrels and Social Change along with Obese Records stalwart, Reason. Levelheaded provides an electrifying live show that features more than 6 performers including ex Train Of Thought favourite ‘Slats’, Adelaide Heavy Metal front man ‘Fish’ and promising up-and-comers ‘Sydetrak’ & ‘Eslev’. With Hacksaw as his right hand man on the decks, he is no stranger to the live performance sharing the stage with the likes of Jungle Brothers, Lazy Grey, Hilltop Hoods, Pegs, Reason and Funkoars just to name a few. The Spice of Life has received much acclaim from lovers of music all over the country and these shows are sure to impress.

Social Change is putting a new live Funk Movement lineup together for this show and the V.High.P crew are joining in on the vocals for a massive sponatenous cypher and jam. Friday 11th September 2009 – Whole Collection Records in conjunction with Butterthief, High-Fi, Broken Tooth and Pang Productions presents – Ciecmate & Newsense ’A Tale of Two Cities’ album launch, Mata & Must “Paradox of Minds’ album launch, Social Change ’Fat Pockets’ Butterthief phat-tape launch, A&P ’Akay & Progress’ with special guest Finalcause. DJ’s Nixon and Bdeps. 18+. Doors open 9pm. Only $15.

This show was dope… Nice crowd rocked up, BDeps was on hosting duties as well as the wheels of steel along with Nixon, and Whole Collection Records had it on lock with Akay and Progress, DJ Danger and Finalcause playing a cracking opening set. After they tore the stage apart, Bdeps spun tunes for a while before Social Change jumped up. Having just completed the Fat Pockets Butterthief Phat Tape, Social Change played a showcase of exclusive material from their upcoming album as well as the new tracks “Forever” and “Step” which feature on the Phat Tape. The Fat Pockets Butterthief Fat Tape is currently streaming on www.soundcloud.com/socialchange and will be available for Free download soon, followed by special limited edition copies with bonus tracks on CD for stores.

After the Social Change set, BDeps had some technical difficulties with Serato and was unable to spin his exclusive set of original beats, so he improvised and after some long moments of silence things got warm again for Mata & Must. The crowd filled back inside from the balcony and the show kicked off. DJ Bogues provided the slices and Mata & Must performed their set with high energy, launching their new album. They ran thru tracks off their Paradox of Minds album as well as some extra goodness, the crowd showing mad support.

BDeps held it down for a few minutes before introducing the main act for the night. Ciecmate and Newsense hit the stage and launched their A Tale of Two Cities album, dropping crowd favourites plus additional classics. A highlight of their show had to be the Ciecmate verse on “The Resume”. Overall they ripped a solid show with the same cool vibe they capture on the album. Both interstate crews had mad merchandise available including wax and Tshirts, so props to everyone who snapped that shit up. Thanks gotta go to Progress for making it happen, to the artists who travelled long distances to be there, and to all the heads who represented and showed support.

Shouts to Speekup/LastShot for organising Flying Darts on the 15th August at the Jolly Miller Tavern in Hindmarsh. The dope lineup of Adelaide artists and a venue that hadn’t really repped for Hip Hop before made for a great combination. The beer garden was great and suited the warm “early spring” night and the stage and sound system was well set up. After sound check and a chill with some of the heads that arrived early, the night kicked off.

Dsypher, Sheabutter and Rendrz all had sets early in the night. Dialect was playing in town at the Producers Bar as part of the Last Kinection show with Jimblah, and DJ Snair went with Dialect and emcee Social Change joined as right-hand man. The show at Producers Bar went really well. Dialect played a set full of new songs and the impressed crowd showed much support for the microphone menace. Dialect stuck around in town while DJ Snair and emcee SC hit it back to the Jolly Miller. They got back just after the Speekup set in time for LKR and the Math.

LKR and the Math started their set off with a crew cypher which included Bornski (Common Cause/Adroit Effusive), Speekup and Social Change. They then worked thru a bunch of tracks they’ve been working on solidly. Looking to release something soon these two lyricists have great chemistry and the music they make is deep and thought provoking. DJ Snair was already on stage scratching for the dynamic duo when Funkwig arrived and plugged in the MPC. It was time for the Social Change set and the crowd gathered inside. They kicked it off with an acapella that transmigrated over instro beats to impromptu MPC/scratch routines. The set was an extra long one as Social Changed performed all their tracks plus the new ones. The audience were really responsive and the energy in the room was great.

Overall the night was cool thanks to the supportive crowd. Happy Earthday to 2Biz, thanks for hosting the night. Shouts to all the crew who came thru and to all the heads we met at the show. Big ups to Speekup – www.myspace.com/speekup for organising the event. Adelaide Hip Hop on fire tonight!

On the 8th August 2009 two of Adelaide’s longest serving Hip Hop acts converged on the Northern Sound System in Elizabeth for the latest installment of Northern Elements. After Hours and Social Change were joined by a massive lineup of local talent including 2Clevers, Peeps and Remedy, Odd One and Arise, Nodz, Badels, Critically Ill and All Day, as well as MC battles hosted by Dialect.

The Highlight on the night was the opening set by All Day who had quality lyrics and a great stage presence. Everyone else did a great job including 2 Clevers whos set was high energy, and Peeps and Remedy who had a lot of support. Dialect hosted the battles well and Halde (who organised the event) even jumped up to perform a few tracks.

The Social Change set featured Dialect on the mic and special guest The Expressionist who jumped up for a cypher freestyle as well as to feature on track “REAL” which was released on the internet exactly a year ago on the 08.08.08. The venue was pretty full up early on but the night was a long one, and after the end of the Social Change set the crowd started to thin out as fights broke out outside and the last trains into the city were leaving the station. By the time After Hours finally got to hit the stage there were only the dedicated heads left in the building. After Hours ripped a crazy tight set before being cut short by time restraints.
